Kolache is one of the most genius bakery goods/ items out there period. Who ever invented these is simply genius! Whether you are into savory or sweet Kolache's this is hands down the place to have them in HOU. I'm mostly into the savory ones the the jalapeño cheddar and most spicy egg/ meats Kolaches are AMAZING!! Kolaches are so easy to overeat and loose track of how many you've had ;).

When in Houston, at least one of the must-have breakfast/snack items is the Kolache! Its a Czech baked soft, pillowy bun filled with all sorts of goodies. I grew up eating Chinese baked and steamed pork and dessert buns, which share some similarities. Kolaches are all the rage in Houston apparently - folks bring boxes of these in addition to donuts for meetings!
The Kolache Factory in downtown is located in the Underground. The easiest way is to enter the office building on 811 Louisiana St and take the escalator down. They have lots of flavors, both sweet and savory along with sizes. For breakfast, I ordered two (each under 250 calories) with a small coffee.
I enjoyed the Italian Chicken one - very herby, cheesy, and just perfect with the soft pillowy sweet dough. The chocolate cream cheese version was good though a bit messier with an open-face style. Be sure to wash it down with some excellent Katz coffee. I like Texas Pecan. -

The Kolache Factory has literally every possible Kolache filling imaginable. The prices are very cheap and they are surprisingly filling. Oddly enough, my favorite one was the Philly Cheese Steak. I would definitely give it a try! Also, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful!

Always great here! Staff is very welcoming and fast. The cheese kolache and their ice coffee is my favorite.

I was told I definitely had to eat here when visiting Houston! Definitely worth the trip but nothing too life changing. The concept of stuffing savory meats and other mixtures into dough is something I'm addicted to so it was so good to me. The dough was baked decently. The only thing is that they have it sitting out for a while that they ask you if you want it warmed so they just put it in the microwave for a few seconds before giving it to you.
